At Benchmark Imaging & Displays, we’ve had the privilege of working on countless creative and meaningful projects – but few have been as fun and creatively fulfilling as this one.
Big Works Industries, a longtime innovator in experiential design for film, television, advertising, museums, and live events, recently brought us an exciting opportunity. They were developing an interactive mobile exhibit for The Dolores Kohl Foundation – a nonprofit committed to sparking creativity and curiosity in children through education.
The result? The Animal Orchestra on Tour!
This vibrant, mobile musical experience is designed to engage young children across the Chicagoland area. Housed in a fully customized 40-foot Winnebago, the exhibit offers a 35-minute immersive journey through the music of the world – brought to life through stunning visuals, hands-on activities, and compelling storytelling.
Our Role in the Magic!
Benchmark Imaging & Displays was thrilled to partner on the visual execution of this traveling exhibit. Our team was responsible for both the exterior vehicle wrap and a range of custom interior graphics, each tailored to enhance the interactive experience for young audiences.
Exterior Wrap:
To transform the Winnebago into a rolling work of art, we used our 8-foot wide HP Latex printer and printed on premium 3M cast adhesive vinyl with a matching high-gloss 3M overlaminate. This not only ensured vibrant, eye-catching colors but also offered long-term durability against the elements – a must for a traveling installation.
Interior Elements:
Inside the vehicle, we printed and installed a variety of elements designed for both interactivity and longevity. One standout feature was the interactive Ferris wheel, which we printed on 1/4″ Sintra with a textured overlaminate to prevent wear from curious little hands. The piece was then precision contour-cut on our digital die-cutter for a flawless finish. Additional interior wall graphics were printed on adhesive vinyl and hand-applied inside the vehicle, creating a fully immersive environment from floor to ceiling.
